Banda (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) A man serving a life sentence and released on parole from a jail in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna allegedly killed his wife by striking her with a trident in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district on Monday, suspecting that she had poisoned his food, police said.
The incident took place in Rangaualiya Buzurg village under the Kul Pahar Kotwali area, they said.
Mahoba Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandana Singh said the police received information through the Police Response Vehicle (PRV) service that a man, identified as Kallan Raikwar, had allegedly killed his wife Champa (48) with a trident.
After receiving the information, senior police officials along with a field unit reached the spot and inspected the scene. Kallan
was taken into custody and is being questioned, the ASP said.
During preliminary questioning, Kallan told police that he suspected his wife had poisoned his food and that he attacked her over the suspicion, Singh said.
The accused had returned home a few days ago after being released on parole from Satna jail, the police officer said.
Kallan was serving a life sentence after being convicted of murdering his 10-month-old granddaughter, she said.
The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further legal action is underway, police said. PTI COR KIS PRK
