US President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) received two large bags from McDonalds from a doorstep delivery driver at the Oval Office at the White House to mark the first anniversary of the ‘no tax on tips’ law.
Trump was handed two large bags of food by a delivery worker wearing a “DoorDash Grandma” shirt, in a moment that was filmed and shared by the White House. Trump used the occasion to promote the tax policy, which removes federal income taxes on certain tipped earnings.
“I have your DoorDash order for you, Mr. President” the dasher told Trump, letting him know the order included “all of your favorites.”

Speaking during the interaction, Trump highlighted the financial impact of the law, saying some workers had seen significant increases in their income due to tax savings. The provision, introduced during his 2024 campaign and later passed as part of a broader tax and spending package, allows eligible workers to deduct portions of their tips between 2025 and 2028.
The delivery worker, identified as Sharon Simmons, appeared surprised when Trump asked her to join him in addressing the media gathered outside the Oval Office.
“Would you like to do a little news conference with me, with these people?” Trump asked her. “These are not the nicest people.”
‘I’ll do whatever you ask me to do, sir,’ Simmons responded.
At one point, Trump directed a question to Simmons, asking, “Do you think that men should play in women’s sports?”
“I really don’t have an opinion on that. No, no, I’m here about no tax on tips,” she said.
At another point, he turned to Simmons during an answer on the Strait of Hormuz, where US Central Command plans to blockade Iranian ports.
“The amazing things is, we don’t — can you believe this? — we don’t use the strait,” he said.
“So the no tax on tips is something special. It’s very special, and that’s one that really pertains to you,” Trump said as he handed out a USD 100 tip to Simmons.
When asked about tipping, she said the White House was “very” generous, as Trump appeared to hand her cash.
Trump also invited Simmons and her husband to an upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship event planned at the White House grounds on June 14.
