Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has become one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of all time. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience and has crossed Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office. However, amid the film’s mega success, some people have also expressed disappointment with it, alleging that it is a propaganda movie. While YouTuber Dhruv Rathee also slammed the makers of Dhurandhar recently, actor Naveen Kaushik has now reacted to the allegations.
In an exclusive interview, Kaushik, who plays Donga in Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster, stated that he does not believe Dhurandhar is a propaganda film. He argued that the film is a factual representation of certain events and called it “history”.
“I do not feel so. Everyone is welcome with their opinions. We have the freedom to form our own opinions in this country and you can say whatever you want to about something. I do not feel it is a propaganda film. It is a representation of factual evidence. Unfortunately, because it is something that is such a big part of Indian history, you cannot rule out a certain level of politics in it. These are highly political events that happened in our country. They have changed the narrative of a lot of people and as well as of our country. So you’re going to have that kind of criticism coming your way,” Naveen told us.
Naveen further argued that the makers of Dhurandhar have not targeted a particular community with their film and added by saying, “I do not feel in the film we have done something that criticises a particular community. We have not tried to make it about India and Pakistan. We’ve tried to highlight people, certain awful people who misuse the resources they had. They misuse the settlement of the nation that they were in to harm our nation. I think that is not propaganda. I think that is just stating the fact.”
Dhurandhar was released in theatres on December 5.
