Ishan Kishan is leading East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone, and on Day 2 of the summit clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 28-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand has scored a brilliant double century.
Ishan needed 270 balls to reach the 200-run mark for East Zone while batting at No. 5.

Ishan’s double century on Monday has helped him enter the history books. He is only the third player to score a double century for East Zone in the Duleep
Trophy.
Before Ishan, Arun Lal scored a couple of double centuries for East Zone and in the 1995 edition, former wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim also scored a double century.
While Saba remained unbeaten on 200, Arun scored 214 runs against Central Zone in Pune and then smashed 287 runs against West Zone in the semifinal played in Pune from October 25 to 28, 1986.
Highest individual scores for East Zone in Duleep Trophy
| PLAYER | RUNS | BALLS | 4/6s | AGAINST | VENUE | START DATE |
| Arun Lal | 287 | 490 | 39/0 | West Zone | Pune | October 25, 1986 |
| Arun Lal | 214 | – | 30/1 | Central Zone | Pune | October 20, 1986 |

| Saba Karim | 200* | – | – | West Zone | Nagpur | October 21, 1995 |
| Saba Karim | 190 | – | – | North Zone | Delhi | November 20, 1996 |
Interestingly, like Ishan, both Arun Lal and Saba Karim were captaining East Zone in the Duleep Trophy when they scored their respective double centuries.
Ishan, who played two Tests for India in 2023 against the West Indies, will now look to convert his double century into a triple century. If he manages to achieve the feat in the ongoing match, he will become only the third player to score a triple century in the Duleep Trophy.
