The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has criticised media reports and social media posts attempting to link the Tibetan Buddhist leader with deceased sex convict Jeffrey Epstein.
In an official statement, the Dalai Lama’s office said, “Some recent media reports and social media posts concerning the ‘Epstein files’ are attempting to link His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein. We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein or authorised any meeting or interaction with him by anyone on His Holiness’s behalf.”
This comes after the release of Epstein Files which names several personalities including Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
Dalai Lama in Epstein files?
The US Department of Justice has released a vast collection
of material linked to Jeffrey Epstein under the “Epstein Files Transparency Act”. The disclosure includes more than 3 million documents, over 2,000 videos and around 180,000 photographs, alongside grand jury transcripts and investigative records. Although many pages are heavily redacted, the scale of the release has drawn worldwide attention.
Reports from the files indicate that the Dalai Lama’s name appears at least 169 times. Emails in the collection suggest Epstein discussed attending events where the Dalai Lama would also be present. A 2012 email refers to an unnamed island gathering noting the Dalai Lama’s attendance.
Another email from 2015 reads, “First step would be to meet Tenzin. His student who runs the Dalai Lama center…can get us the Dalai Lama,” followed by a message stating, “I’m working on the Dalai Lama for dinner.”
American journalist Michael Wolff also recalled meeting the Dalai Lama at Epstein’s Manhattan home. The Dalai Lama’s office, however, said any such encounters were not arranged or sanctioned.
