Temasek India has roped in Ex-DBS Group CEO Piyush Gupta for the Chairman role, effective from December 01, 2025, according to the official statement of Singapore-based investment company.
Gupta will work
closely with Mr Ravi Lambah (Head, Strategic Initiatives and Head, India) and the India team on the company’s investment strategies, partner with and support Temasek Portfolio Companies as they identify opportunities in India, and also take on an institutional focus for Temasek by engaging with the Indian government and business communities.
Mr Piyush Gupta said: “I am honoured with this opportunity to work with the Temasek India team. Having been engaged with the Temasek ecosystem for many years, I look forward to collaborating with the team to deepen partnerships, pursue new opportunities, and contribute to Temasek’s continued growth in India.”
Incorporated in 1974, Temasek is an investment company headquartered in Singapore. Temasek owns a S$434 billion portfolio as at March 31, 2025, mainly in Singapore and the rest of Asia.
Piyush Gupta’s Education And Career Growth
Piyush Gupta completed his bachelor’s in Economics (Hons) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. Following that, he completed his Masters in Business Administration from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Gupta worked previously with Citi for South East Asia-Pacific as CEO. His career with Citi remained over 27 years. Thereafter, he worked as Group CEO of DBS Bank.
As CEO of DBS Group from 2009 to 2025, Mr Gupta led its widely recognised digital transformation and regional expansion for it to become one of the world’s best banks. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of Keppel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University, and Chairman of Mandai Park Holdings Board. In addition, he also holds senior advisory roles in Singapore and internationally.
