Diwali is a festival celebrated by everyone and it’s also a time when many people buy gold or jewellery. Shops are usually filled with customers, but a recent incident from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has
sparked outrage online. A video shows a man in a simple kurta pyjama visiting a jewellery store with his wife, only to be mocked by the shop owner. The owner reportedly called him poor and told him to leave, as he only sells to rich customers.
Soon after the clip circulated online, social media users started criticising the shop owner’s behaviour. Many shared that no one should be disrespected for their appearance or financial status.

Social Media Criticizes Shop Owner’s Behavior
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Yes, it happens. Happened to me too. If you go to the shop, they first entertain those who are well dressed and good looking.”
Another asked, “For what purpose is the owner recording?”
“These people go mad when their shops become popular,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “When suddenly theft or fire happens in shops of such people, they ask, ‘Why did this happen to us?’ It’s because of your own actions. God sees everything.”
Another mentioned, “No wonder customers are choosing the brand over local shops now.”
One more added, “It feels really bad to see that in our country, where customers are treated like gods, there are still such careless and shameless people.”
Another Jewellery Incident In Indore Sparks Chaos
In a separate incident, a woman caused chaos at a jewellery shop in Indore’s well-known Sarafa Market. According to India Today, the incident took place at Sumit Jain’s shop when a regular customer named Kirti arrived and got into an argument over a financial dispute of Rs 5000. The situation escalated as the woman began smashing glass and even shouted at the staff. After the local Police arrived at the scene, a female constable tried to intervene.
During the heated moment, Kirti allegedly bit the constable’s hand. After a long struggle, the police were able to bring the situation under control and take Kirti into custody. She was then transported to the police station, where a case was filed against her for obstruction of government work, assault and vandalism.
