Jaipur, Jun 5 (PTI) A tree plantation drive was organised at Nahargarh Fort here on World Environment Day under the joint aegis of Jaipur Wax Museum, the fort administration and the Archaeology Department, officials said on Friday.
Each sapling planted during the programme was dedicated to a prominent personality. This year, trees were planted in the names of Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh, cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, Hadi Rani and astronaut Kalpana Chawla.
A neem sapling was dedicated to Bhawani Singh, a Mahavir Chakra awardee, while a gulmohar tree was planted in honour of Hadi Rani. Other plants were dedicated to Kaur and Chawla.
Jaipur Wax Museum founder Anup Srivastava said the initiative aims not only at planting trees but also ensuring their
long-term care. “These plants will benefit future generations and promote environmental awareness,” he said.
He added that the museum has been organising such activities for several years to sensitise tourists and youth about environmental conservation and the contributions of national icons. PTI AG AMJ AMJ
