Jaipur, Sep 13 (PTI) Rajasthan Police have frozen, seized or attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 73.64 crore since January this year acquired allegedly through illegal means by drug traffickers under the NDPS Act, an official said.
Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) IG Vikas Kumar said 63 cases had been prepared against habitual and notorious drug traffickers and sent to the competent authority. Final orders for attachment and seizure have been approved in 38 cases, while legal proceedings in 25 cases are at an advanced stage.
The properties targeted include houses, under-construction shops, agricultural land, residential plots and vehicles such as cars, pick-ups, tractors and motorcycles, Kumar said.
The action has been taken under Section
68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of a special campaign against drug traffickers, they said.
Chittorgarh recorded the largest action, with assets worth Rs 20.35 crore seized under approved cases. These included properties worth Rs 18.79 crore allegedly belonging to trafficker Rahul Banjara of Gangrar.
In Baran, assets worth around Rs 18.48 crore have been frozen, while in Jhalawar, seizure of properties worth around Rs 12.65 crore belonging to nine accused has been approved.
In Pratapgarh, properties including newly constructed houses, a poultry farm and vehicles worth around Rs 8.24 crore have been attached under approved cases.
Assets worth around Rs 3.05 crore have been attached in Nagaur, Jodhpur Rural and Hanumangarh. Further seizures have also been approved in Jalore, Udaipur, Bhilwara and Jodhpur East, officials said.
In a statement, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma said dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers was a top priority and warned that properties acquired through drug money would be seized.
He directed police officials to continue strict action against those involved in the illegal drug trade and appealed to citizens to inform police about drug trafficking in their areas. PTI AG SKY SKY
