Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Vav-Tharad on Tuesday, March 31, bringing with him a major development push for Gujarat. Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of projects worth more than Rs 20,000 crore — spanning energy, roads, highways, railways, urban development, water supply, housing, health, tourism, and tribal welfare.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi will be present at the event, alongside senior officials from both the state and central governments.
For Vav-Tharad — and Gujarat at large — it is a significant day.
PM Modi’s Gujarat Visit: What It Means For Residents
A World-Class Jain Heritage Museum in Gandhinagar: The Samrat Samprati Museum at Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra in Koba village will give Gujarat — and the country
— a dedicated space to explore Jain heritage, ancient manuscripts, rare artefacts and sculptures across seven themed galleries. For residents, it means a significant cultural and tourism landmark, right in the heart of the state.
60 Lakh Chips a Day — And Thousands of Jobs: The Rs 3,300 crore OSAT semiconductor facility by Kaynes Semicon in Sanand will package and test chips at a projected capacity of 60 lakh units per day. For Gujarat residents, this means jobs, industrial growth, and Sanand cementing its place as one of India’s most important manufacturing destinations.
Better Rail Connectivity Across the State
• The new 55-km Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma railway line (Rs 482 crore) will improve travel for residents of Sabarkantha district, with better links to Ahmedabad and Udaipur.
• A new train between Khedbrahma and Ahmedabad via Himmatnagar will make daily commutes and inter-city travel significantly easier.
• The doubling of the Kanalus-Jamnagar section and multitracking between Gandhidham and Adipur (Rs 257 crore) will reduce travel time and ease freight movement for residents in Saurashtra and Kutch.
Better Roads, Drainage and Housing in Cities: Forty-four urban development projects worth Rs 5,295 crore will directly benefit residents across Gujarat’s cities. Ahmedabad gets the largest share — 32 projects worth Rs 4,640 crore — covering infrastructure upgrades, drainage systems, and housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. For thousands of families, this means better roads, reduced waterlogging, and access to affordable homes.
A Tourism Boost For Vadnagar: The Heritage Town and Road Beautification Project in Vadnagar will restore and beautify one of Gujarat’s most historically significant towns, drawing more tourists and boosting the local economy.
Relief For Two Lakh Patan Residents: A new railway overbridge in Patan will ease traffic congestion at a key crossing, improving daily commutes and road safety for nearly two lakh residents.
