BTS fans got a glimpse of the septet in high spirits as Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook returned to Seoul after nearly a week in Portugal. While the airport arrival was a joyous moment for ARMYs, recent incidents involving Jimin and V (Kim Taehyung) have sparked renewed concerns about the group’s safety.
On February 9, the BTS members walked through Incheon Airport gates, greeted by throngs of fans, photographers, and reporters eager to capture the rare OT7 moment. Amid the excitement, a woman reportedly posed as a journalist to approach Jimin. She crossed the barrier set for media personnel, prompting airport authorities to intervene. Dispatch reports that police detained the woman after discovering her intentions. Fans voiced
frustration online, calling the act a violation of Jimin’s personal space and highlighting the risks that arise even during seemingly routine airport exits.
Security measures were particularly noticeable around V, who was escorted by two managers to his car. Footage from the scene shows a bodyguard preventing a fan from getting too close, reflecting heightened precautions following a recent threat he received in Portugal. While no official confirmation has emerged, online reports suggest the danger may have involved an anti-fan allegedly camping outside the BTS hotel in Lisbon. Some social media posts even mentioned extreme claims, including “acid attack threats,” though these remain unverified by major news outlets.
The incidents at both Incheon Airport and during BTS’s Portugal trip have prompted fans to call for stronger protection for the members, particularly V. Social media campaigns like #HYBEPROTECTTAEHYUNG have circulated widely, urging the agency HYBE and its subsidiary BigHit to ensure the idols’ safety.
BTS is preparing for their much-anticipated comeback with the fifth album ARIRANG, which will be supported by a free concert, BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang, at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, followed by a world tour. While excitement builds among fans, recent security concerns have highlighted the ongoing challenges the group faces amid global fandom attention.
