Wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney opened the innings for Australia on Sunday (July 5) and scored 64 runs from 49 balls in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final. During her stay at the crease at Lord’s against England, she hammered 10 fours and added 100 runs for the second wicket with Phoebe Litchfield to help Australia chase down the target of 151 runs in 17.1 overs and win the summit clash by seven wickets.
The half-century by Mooney in the title-decider against arch-rivals England on Sunday helped her break Virat Kohli’s record. The left-handed batter is the first player in the world to score three 50-plus scores in the final of an ICC T20 World Cup (men’s and women’s combined).

Prior to scoring 64 runs against England on Sunday, Mooney had played an unbeaten knock of 78 runs for the Southern Stars in the final of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against India, and in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup final, she scored an unbeaten 74 from 53 balls against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town on February 26.
No player in the history of women’s cricket has scored multiple 50-plus scores in a Women’s T20 World Cup final.

The knock of 64 runs on Sunday helped Mooney extend her tally of runs in Women’s T20 World Cup finals to 230 in four innings across five matches. She now has scored 55 runs more than former Australian skipper Meg Lanning and 67 more than former West Indies batter Marlon Samuels.
For her superb show with the bat in the final on Sunday, Mooney won the Player of the Match award, and in addition to that, she also bagged the Player of the Tournament award.
