Vaazha 2 Creates History As Fastest Malayalam Film To Cross Rs 100 Crore In Kerala

At a time when the Malayalam film industry was craving a solid box office win, a small film with fresh faces has unexpectedly taken centre stage. Without the backing of major stars, this coming-of-age story has quietly built momentum, eventually turning into one of the biggest success stories in recent months.

Directed by debutant Savin SA, Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros has emerged as a runaway hit, dominating theatres for over two weeks. The film has now crossed the ₹100 crore mark in Kerala in just 16 days, setting a new benchmark for the industry.

The film opened to strong word-of-mouth, especially among younger audiences who connected with its relatable themes and feel-good storytelling. It collected an impressive ₹55 crore in its first

week alone. According to Sacnilk, the film added ₹2.50 crore on day 17, taking its Kerala total to ₹101.85 crore. Interestingly, the film had already crossed ₹100 crore worldwide within its first week and is now inching towards the ₹200 crore mark globally.

Marking the milestone, writer Vipin Das shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. He wrote, “Fastest ₹100 Crore at the Kerala Box Office! Thank you all for your immense love and support! #Vaazha2 belongs to all of you.. and so do our achievements.” With this, the film has overtaken Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, which reached the milestone in 24 days, and Thudarum, which did so in 19 days.

The story revolves around four friends — Hashir, Alan, Ajin, and Vinayak — often seen as troublemakers, as they deal with academic struggles, societal expectations, and the pressures of growing up. Featuring newcomers Hashir H., Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak V., the film also includes performances by Vijay Babu, Aju Varghese, Bijukuttan, Alphonse Puthren, and Sudheesh.

Following the film’s success, the makers have already announced Vaazha 3, which is expected to feature an all-women lead cast. Sharing the vision ahead, Vipin Das wrote, “The Vaazha franchise has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Thanks to all the love you have given us! We launched Vaazha with the intention of introducing fresh talent to cinema, and we are committed to carrying that legacy forward in all future chapters. This is the only franchise where the door is always open whether you want to write, direct, act, or compose.”
