R Madhavan shared the photo of Thalapathy Vijay and wrote, “God bless you and sooooo Proud of you.” Fans also reacted with heart emojis. One of the fans wrote, “My Thalapathy Vijay Sir.” Another wrote, “Chief minister of tamilnadu VIJAY.” Among the early arrivals was actor Trisha Krishnan, who kept things very low-key but warm as she reached the venue for the oath-taking ceremony of Vijay.
Meanwhile, Vijay scripted one of the biggest political upsets in Tamil Nadu’s history through his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). In the 2026 Assembly elections, TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats, ending decades of DMK-AIADMK dominance in the state. Though short of the majority mark initially, Vijay secured support from smaller parties and independents before staking claim to form the government. He officially took oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on May 10. His parents, family and good friend Trisha Krishnan were present at the event.
