Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1, the Japanese animated dark fantasy action drama, was released in India on September 12, 2025, amid high expectations. Despite facing
stiff competition at the Indian box office from Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3, the South Indian film Mirai, and Varun Dhawan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tusli Kumari, the anime continued to hold its ground strongly.
Helmed by Haruo Sotozaki, the anime is the first film of a trilogy and serves as the immediate follow-up to the series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 4, which adapts the Hashira Training Arc.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle India Collection
According to Sacnilk.com, the Japanese animated film has earned Rs 71.91 crore in India across all languages after a month of release, while its gross domestic collection stands at Rs 87.25 crore.
Looking at the collection numbers, the anime film has beaten several big Bollywood releases, including Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files and Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa’s Homebound.
Based on the current trends, the film is currently on its last legs and its run in the Indian theatres is likely to end soon, especially after the arrival of Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma and Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.
Its success has resulted in a new market for Japanese anime. It is expected to pave the way for more Japanese anime to become more common in Indian cinemas, including titles like as One Piece, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and others.
More About Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
The film follows the Demon Slayer Corps, led by Tanjiro, as they invade the Infinity Castle, the lair of the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji, to commence the final battle against the demons. Picking up after the fourth season of the anime, the story shows the Demon Slayers battling various demons, with a significant focus on Akaza and his backstory.
