It is not a secret that after Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups, Yash will be seen playing the role of Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial, Ramayana. Recently, the Kannada star attended the CinemaCon 2026 in the USA, where he opened up about the film and promised that it would be a ‘unique’ experience for the audience.
“Ramayana has a certain substance that stays with you for a long time. The very reason this story has endured for so long, and gone beyond boundaries, almost transcending cultures, where people truly own it, suggests there’s something deeply universal about it. And I feel that experiencing it on the big screen, with today’s technology, could make it feel even more immersive and unique for audiences, something they can truly take
in and enjoy the way it’s meant to be seen,” he said.
Teaser Received Mixed Reviews
Yash’s comments come days after the Rama teaser of Ramayana was released. It was dropped on April 2, on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The teaser of Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial unveiled Ranbir Kapoor’s looks as lord Ram and marked an important moment as the timeless epic is presented to a global audience. However, it has also received mixed reviews from the audience. A section of viewers expressed disappointment with the VFXs and called the teaser disappointing.
Following this, producer Namit Malhotra also issued a statement and stated that they are listening to the audience’s feedback. “We’re listening closely, working diligently, and pouring every effort possible into honouring it with the reverence it holds. This is our Ramayana. It belongs to us all, and that shared emotion and massive responsibility to make every Indian proud, is what drives me forward every single day. What you’ve seen so far is just the beginning… we are all striving to bring our epic to life this Diwali on the biggest screens to celebrate our culture and our history,” he said.
