India men’s head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted the team and some Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials for a dinner at his Delhi home on Sunday (February 8). The Men in Blue are in the capital for their 2026 T20 World Cup match against Namibia, scheduled for February 12.
In a video shared by the news agency PTI on its social media, the team can be seen arriving on the bus, with Gambhir, his wife Natasha Jain, and their daughters, Aazeen and Anaiza, welcoming them individually. Another video showed BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also arriving at the Rajendra Nagar residence.

Gambhir played cricket for Delhi and has worked as a politician here, too. Interestingly, none of the current squad members belong to the city — the only one who did, pacer Harshit Rana, has been ruled out of the tournament due to a serious knee issue and replaced by Mohammed Siraj.
The spirits would be high in the team after surviving a dramatic top-order collapse to beat the USA by 29 runs in their tournament opener, thanks to a captain’s knock from Suryakumar Yadav.
Sent in to bat, India were rocked by disciplined bowling from pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk, slipping to 77 for six. Suryakumar then took control, combining patience with a late onslaught to finish unbeaten on 84 and push India to 161 for nine. In reply, Siraj’s incisive first spell reduced the USA to 13 for three, and despite some middle-order resistance, they were restricted to 132 for eight.
According to reports, India had an optional net session planned at the Arun Jaitley Stadium for Sunday, but canceled it. They have three more days to prepare for the game.
