All about Obsession
The film had earlier premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025, before arriving in the United States on May 15, 2026. The story follows Baron “Bear” Bailey, who secretly has feelings for his co-worker and friend Nikki Freeman. After the death of his cat, Bear purchases a mystical object called the “One Wish Willow,” which is believed to grant one wish when broken.
In a vulnerable moment, Bear wishes that Nikki would love him more than anyone else in the world. Soon after, Nikki becomes obsessively attached to him, and the two begin a relationship. However, her affection quickly turns unsettling, violent and dangerous.
Bear eventually discovers that Nikki’s emotions and memories have been distorted by the wish. As her obsession grows more terrifying, he learns that the curse can only end if either he or Nikki dies. His attempts to undo the wish only lead to more tragic and gruesome consequences.
In the climax, Bear tries to end the nightmare and free Nikki from the curse. But before he can do so, Nikki uses another wish to make him love her back. Though Bear finally reciprocates, he collapses moments later due to the pills he had consumed. Nikki then returns to her true self and breaks down after seeing the destruction around her.
