A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow committed suicide after she was hurt by a comment made by her husband.
The deceased, identified as Tannu Singh, allegedly took her life after she got upset when her husband, Rahul, ‘jokingly’ called her “bandariya” (monkey).
According to her sister, Anjali, the family had returned home on Wednesday evening from a relative’s house in Sitapur. After reaching home, they were all sitting together in a room joking and talking when Rahul reportedly called Tannu a “monkey”, which upset her. This led her to move into another room.
According to reports, Rahul, who works as an auto driver, jokingly teased Tannu. After that, he went out to bring food.
When he returned, he asked Anjali to call Tannu; however, the door was
locked from the inside. After calling her name without any response, she looked through the window and saw Tannu hanging from a cloth noose, which caused her to scream.
After arriving at the scene, police took the body into custody and conducted a post-mortem. The body was later handed over to the family and no written complaint has been filed so far.
According to the family members, Tannu had married Rahul about four years ago in a love marriage that was later approved by both families. They added that Tannu had an interest in modeling.
