Karthi Shares Major Update About Sequel Kaithi 2: 'I Don’t Know'

The buzz around Kaithi 2 continues to grow, but it it looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer. Recently, actor Karthi, who delivered one of the finest performances in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi,

has addressed the ongoing curiosity surrounding the sequel. He was quoted as saying that details are yet to come.

As per Times Now, Karthi was seen addressing this question about the film’s status, “I don’t know…” In another promotional event, he was asked when Kaithi 2 details will be given he said “will come…”

Lokesh Kanagaraj To Introduce LCU’s First Female Superhero In Kaithi 2?

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Lokesh said, “I am writing something for actresses, which are kind of new characters to the LCU universe. There will be 2-3 new characters in the LCU, and you will get an update in Kaithi 2.” However, the filmmaker did not reveal much about the casting or what the characters will be.

Kaithi 2 May Be Pushed As Lokesh Kanagaraj Eyes Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan Project

As per reports, Lokesh Kanagaraj is looking forward to making another film with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But, reportedly, this would shift the schedule of the much-anticipated Kaithi 2 starring Karthi further. According to a report by Valai Pechu, Kaithi 2 may be delayed because Lokesh Kanagaraj is planning to direct a film starring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. With this development potentially opening up Karthi’s schedule, the actor is expected to reallocate his dates to director Sundar C. The producers have yet to confirm this.

Kaithi 2 is the sequel to the 2019 movie Kaithi. The first instalment told the story of Dilli, an ex-convict who is forced to assist a police officer as a mafia group is behind them.  With Karthi as the lead, the film includes an ensemble cast that includes Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan, and many others in key roles. The action thriller was the first entry in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Cinematic Universe (LCU), which was later expanded with Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay.

In an unexpected last-minute development, the makers of Karthi’s much-awaited action entertainer Vaa Vaathiyaar have postponed the film’s release. It was scheduled to release on December 12 but now the makers have cancelled due to unresolved debt issue.  Taking to their official X handle, Prathyangira Cinemas confirmed the postponement and wrote, “@StudioGreen2 production has informed us that #VaaVaathiyaar (Tamil) and #AnnagaruVostaru (Telugu) have been postponed from their planned release on December 12 due to unforeseen circumstances. The new release date will be announced soon by the team.”
