Tu Yaa Main Box Office Day 1: The survival thriller Tu Yaa Main opened to a modest start at the domestic box office, with early figures indicating limited footfall on its first day in cinemas. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the film stars Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav in lead roles and released nationwide on Friday.
Film Registers Modest Opening But Beats Actors’ Previous Debuts
According to estimates reported by Sacnilk.com, the film collected around ₹57 lakh nett in India on day one, falling short of the ₹1 crore mark. The release spanned 1,239 shows across the country and recorded an average occupancy of about 6 per cent, reflecting a lukewarm turnout.
Despite the subdued start, the film still managed to outperform the opening-day numbers of the lead actors’ recent theatrical releases. Shanaya Kapoor’s 2025
romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, directed by Santosh Singh, had earned ₹30 lakh on its first day. Meanwhile, Adarsh Gourav’s coming-of-age drama Superboys of Malegaon, helmed by Reema Kagti, opened at ₹50 lakh. By comparison, Tu Yaa Main has edged past both, though its overall opening remains modest by industry standards.
News18 Showsha rated the film 3.5/5 and noted, “Adarsh Gourav sinks his teeth into the Nala Sopara boy Maruti with aplomb. He gets the lingo just right, almost making it a lived-in reality. His internalised vulnerability in the first half and nervous intensity in the second steal the show. Shanaya Kapoor as Avani is rather impressive, showing a significant growth from her debut outing, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. In the pre-interval block of Tu Yaa Main, the makers play to her strengths and offer her a role that fits her well.”
Survival Thriller Premise And Production Backing
The film follows two social media influencers whose romantic getaway spirals into a life-threatening ordeal. Shanaya plays Avani, also known as Miss Vanity, while Adarsh essays Maruti, alias Aala Flowpara. Their characters become trapped in a swimming pool alongside a crocodile, setting the stage for a tense survival narrative blending romance and suspense.
Produced by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, and Vinod Bhanushali, the film banks on its unconventional premise and performances to draw audiences over the weekend. Whether word-of-mouth and critical response translate into improved box office momentum remains to be seen, but its opening figures suggest a challenging road ahead.
