Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan has received support from Australian skipper Pat Cummins as the cricketing world comes together to request the Pakistan government to provide a dignified treatment of Imran in jail, where he has been kept since 2023 and is now suffering health issues.
Imran’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, have expressed fears for their father’s safety in prison, saying that ‘blatant’ attempts are being made to ‘kill him in there’.
The brothers appeared in an 18-minute interview on Sky Sports held by former England skipper Mike Atherton, who was among the 21 international cricket greats to sign a letter to the Pakistan government calling for proper medical care for Imran.
Now, Cummins has voiced his support too.

The interview with Imran’s sons, aired during the lunch break of the second Test between England and Pakistan at Lord’s on Thursday, prompted a protest from the visiting team’s cricket board, which threatened to withdraw its cricketers from the match, as per PTI.
The PCB lodged a complaint with the broadcaster, voicing its displeasure over the telecast. Beyond his political career, Imran is an iconic figure in international cricket, having led Pakistan to its first and only ODI World Cup win in 1992.
Imran underwent a medical examination on the orders of Pakistan’s Supreme Court. He was taken to Shifa Hospital in Islamabad for the check-up before being transferred back to prison within hours.
