'Start Hunger Strike': Shweta Tiwari Trolled For Punjab Dig At CJP After Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation

Television actress Shweta Tiwari has found herself at the centre of an online backlash after reacting to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The actress shared an Instagram Story shortly after Pradhan stepped down following weeks of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, but her remarks did not go down well with many social media users.

Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on July 25 after sustained student protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where thousands had gathered to demand accountability over the examination controversy. The resignation marked the biggest political outcome of the movement, with the CJP later announcing the withdrawal of its 36-day agitation after the Centre accepted

its key demands.

What Shweta Tiwari Posted

On Saturday, Shweta took to the Stories section of her Instagram account and shared a video of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. In the clip, Dipke says that after Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, people can now seek the resignation of any cabinet minister who fails to perform.
Reacting to the video, Shweta wrote, “Now, when is the Punjab Education Minister resigning? And when are you protesting there, Cockroach Janta Party?”

Netizens Say ‘Take the Initiative Yourself’

Many users slammed the actress, arguing that the CJP had already led a nationwide movement that resulted in a Union minister resigning and should not be expected to launch every protest. Comments urged Shweta to take the lead herself if she wanted action against the Punjab government.

One user wrote, “Take the initiative and start the protest against Punjab Government we are with you, ask the government not CJP.”

Another commented, “Please take initiative and start hunger strike, we all are with you. Agar kuch kaar nhi paa rahe ho tu chup raho.”

A third user defended the protesters, writing, “They have took initiative for 21 dead students and served some justice. What you have been doing making reels and doing brand promotion may be do some protest. Students are nor robots they just now got some rest.”

Another comment read, “They did a lot . What are you doing?? Do your bit too.” One user simply asked, “Is anyone stopping you?”

What Was The CJP Protest About?

The Cockroach Janta Party, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, emerged as the face of a youth-led movement after allegations surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Students and supporters gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, examination reforms, action against those responsible for the paper leak and relief for affected students.

The agitation gathered momentum over several weeks, drawing support from activists, students and public figures. It also intensified after social activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the movement with a hunger strike, before later ending his fast ahead of talks between the Centre and the CJP.

After Pradhan resigned, celebrations broke out at Jantar Mantar, with Dipke calling it a major win for democracy. The Centre also agreed to key demands, after which the CJP announced the end of its sit-in while stating that its broader campaign for education reforms would continue.
