Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face off in match number 15 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Eden Gardens on Thursday (April 9).
It will be the third game of the 19th season of the IPL at the Eden Gardens, after KKR’s humiliating loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 65 runs on April 2, the last game was the washout on April 6.
Kolkata’s Eden Gardens first hosted an IPL match in April 2008, during the tournament’s inaugural season. Since then, a total of 101 T20 matches have been played at this venue. Teams batting second have enjoyed a slight advantage, winning 57 matches, while teams batting first have won 43. The results suggest that winning or losing the toss does not make a significant difference, as both
outcomes have almost equal success rates. Only one match has ended with no result.
There have been several memorable performances at this ground. Rajat Patidar holds the record for the highest individual score with an unbeaten 112, while Sunil Narine has registered the best bowling figures of 5/19. The highest team total is 262/2, which also stands as the highest successful run chase. On average, teams score around 166 runs when batting first, making Eden Gardens a strong venue for competitive matches.
Eden Gardens Pitch Prediction
The last IPL game was washed out in Kolkata. The game before that — season’s first at the ground, KKR’s bowlers were taken apart all over the park as SRH posted a mammoth 226 from their 20 overs. The hosts began brightly, keeping up with the required run-rate, but a flurry of wickets ultimately derailed their chase.
If the game is possible on Thursday, fans can expect another run fest with the batters making merry at the bowler’s expense.
