The Indian men’s football football team make their long-awaited return to Goa after eight years as the Blue Tigers face Singapore in the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers Final Round Group C match
at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
This match will mark India’s first appearance in the coastal state since 2017.
How India Can Qualify?
India’s hopes for a third consecutive AFC Asian Cup qualification took another hit after a 1-1 draw against Singapore. Rahim Ali’s dramatic last-minute equaliser brought some relief, but the result left the Blue Tigers third in Group C, trailing Hong Kong (7 points) and Singapore (5 points). With only three matches left and only the group winner advancing, India’s qualification now hinges on other results.
To stay in contention, India must win all three remaining fixtures, bringing them to 11 points. Additionally, they need Hong Kong to earn no more than four points from their final two matches. When the two sides meet again, India must win by more than one goal to surpass Hong Kong on a head-to-head basis.
Against Singapore, India can still overtake them if they win their second meeting, even if Singapore wins their other games. Bangladesh, at the bottom of the group with one point, is unlikely to affect the standings unless India drops points. However, if India fails to beat Singapore in Goa and Hong Kong defeats Bangladesh on October 14, the Blue Tigers’ qualifying campaign will effectively end early.
