New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) The Delhi State Election Commission held special camps at polling stations across the national capital on Sunday to facilitate the enrolment of new voters, officials said.
It will hold another round of special camps at colleges, universities and other educational institutions on September 29 and 30 to facilitate enrolment of young and first-time electors, they said. This comes a day after the Election Commission extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) by a month.
The camps were organised to help eligible citizens apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls through Form-6 and avail other electoral services, the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer said
in a statement.
The poll body also said booth level officers (BLOs) will visit the homes of voters who have been issued notices during the SIR over unmapped records or logical discrepancies, collect the required documents and upload them on the ECINet platform for consideration by the electoral registration officer (ERO).
According to the statement, the Delhi poll body has so far conducted 2,98,431 hearings in cases involving notices issued for unmapped electors and logical discrepancies. Around 33.13 lakh electors in the draft roll have been issued such notices.
The Election Commission on Saturday extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Delhi SIR till October 30, while the deadline for disposal of notices and claims and objections was extended till November 30. The final electoral roll will now be published on December 4 instead of November 4.
Those attaining the age of 18 years on or before October 1, 2026, can apply through Form-6 for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls, the statement read. PTI MSJ KSI
