PBKS hammered a colossal 254 against LSG after being asked to bat first and had a shock start as Prabhsimran Singh fell for a golden duck to Mohammed
Shami in the opening over. However, Cooper Connolly and Priyanshu Arya rebuilt the innings brilliantly, counter-attacking the LSG bowlers. The left-handed duo raced to rapid half-centuries and then shifted gears further.
They tore into Aiden Markram in a brutal 32-run over, with Connolly smashing three sixes and Arya adding two more. LSG hit back as wickets tumbled in quick succession: Connolly was removed by Prince Yadav for 87, while Siddharth M dismissed Arya for 93. Captain Shreyas Iyer departed for 5 to Mohsin Khan, and Nehal Wader was sent back by Siddharth for 13.
Shashank Singh chipped in with a brisk 17 off 6 before becoming Prince’s second scalp, and Marcus Stoinis added a valuable 29 off 16 to power Punjab to a formidable total of 254.
Mitch Marsh and Ayush Badoni chipped in with knocks of 40 and 35 at the top of the chat respectively, while Pant added seven runs shy of a half-century to his side’s cause.
Nicholas Pooran’s lean run continued in a run-a-ball-nine innings, while Aiden Markram contributed 42 runs in just 22 deliveries. Mukul Choudhary came up with an unbeaten 21 runs stand to take LSG to the 200-run mark, as the visitors ended up 54 runs short of the target.
