Tamil Nadu Rain: Parts of western Tamil Nadu are likely to witness heavy rainfall from Friday, April 30, with Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Erode expected to receive intense showers over the next few days. The wet spell is set to continue for at least three days.
The Regional Meteorological Centre said a low-pressure system over Tamil Nadu and adjoining regions is driving the current weather conditions. Widespread rainfall is expected across the state between April 30 and May 2.
Areas along the Western Ghats, along with parts of southern coastal Tamil Nadu, are likely to receive moderate rain during this period.
Rainfall intensity could be higher in hilly regions due to local terrain effects. Moderate showers are also expected over delta districts and
coastal belts.
The residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to remain cautious, as repeated spells of rain may lead to waterlogging.

Rain alert has been issued for May 1 and 2, with heavy rainfall likely in Salem, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri. These areas may also experience gusty winds along with intense showers, raising the risk of local disruptions.
Wind speeds may reach up to 40 kmph in several parts of the state during the rain-bearing period.
Authorities have urged fishermen and those engaged in outdoor activities to stay updated with weather advisories, as conditions may change quickly.
While the rainfall is expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat, district administrations have been asked to remain prepared for possible disruptions such as fallen trees, power outages and minor flooding.
The weather department continues to monitor the system and will issue further updates as needed.
