US Man Robs Store, Finds Truck Stolen, Cop Says 'That's Karma' | Video

In a dramatic turn of events, a burglar in the United States was arrested for allegedly robbing a Verizon store in Maryland after he reported to police that his truck had been stolen from the same location.

The incident took place on June 25 in Ellicott City. According to authorities, 29-year-old Jalen Godard approached the police and claimed that his truck had disappeared while he was inside a McDonald’s outlet.

However, the officer, identified as PFC Buchanan, had just responded to reports of a break-in at a Verizon outlet located across the street. At the scene, Buchanan found a shattered window with traces of blood.

Body-camera footage later released by the Howard County Police Department on X showed the officer questioning Godard and noticing blood on his hands and glasses. Buchanan then handcuffed the suspect.

Suspect Called Police To Report His Stolen Truck

“Don’t you hate it when your car gets stolen while you’re committing a burglary? Great work by PFC Buchanan connecting the dots to the burglary across the street when this suspect called to report his car was stolen. Karma, indeed,” Howard County Police Department tweeted.

As police questioned him, Godard pleaded, “I wasn’t at no Verizon store, sir. I promise to God,” only for the cop to tell him, “the gig’s up”.

The video later shows Godard reacting to the loss of his vehicle, saying, “They stole my f***ing truck? Oh my God.”

Authorities have charged Godard with second-degree burglary, theft and destruction of property in connection with the incident.

The case is the latest example of an alleged criminal act taking an unexpected turn.

Last month, police in Alabama discovered the bodies of 44-year-old Daniel Robbins and his girlfriend, 47-year-old Jessi Folds, near an abandoned vehicle in Lanett, roughly 80 miles northeast of Montgomery.

Investigators believe Robbins fatally strangled Folds in an apparent act of domestic violence before suffering a heart attack while attempting to dispose of her body. Authorities suspect the incident took place the previous night, noting that the abandoned vehicle was still running when officers arrived at the scene.
