Akshay Kumar, who is currently enjoying the successful run of his multistarrer film Welcome To The Jungle, spoke about how he believes that it isn’t necessary for a film to have any major event to become successful. Citing the example of Saiyaara, he shared that if a film is destined to be a hit, it will be.
Speaking to IANS, Akshay Kumar said, “If it is in the destiny of the film, it runs successfully one way or the other.” Referring to Saiyaara, Kumar further added, “Recently, a film came out with a new boy and a new girl. What was that film?”
When Welcome To The Jungle director Ahmed Khan reminded Akshay of the film’s name, the actor continued, “Yes, Saiyaara. Which event did the film have? I want to ask, what event did the film have? There
was no event. It’s just that its songs worked, and the romance in the film worked. That caught on. The boy and the girl performed well, and they were lucky that the film took off.”
About Saiyaara
Saiyaara is a romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films. Loosely inspired by the 2004 Korean hit A Moment to Remember, the film stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles. It tells the story of Krish Kapoor, a troubled musician, who forms a profound emotional connection with Vaani Batra, a reserved poet, exploring love, vulnerability, and destiny.
Released theatrically on July 18, 2025, Saiyaara received widespread acclaim for the performances of Panday and Padda, Suri’s sensitive direction, and its melodious soundtrack. The film became a major box-office hit, raking in over ₹576 crore worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing Hindi and Indian film of 2025, and the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of the year.
