Australia and Melbourne Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on Sunday (December 28) became only the second player in Big Bash League (BBL) history to hit 150 sixes. His milestone maximum was a special one,
too, smashing Sydney Thunder’s Daniel Sams outside the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
It happened on the second ball of the 11th over. Sams gave him a proper hit-me ball, right in the slot at under 130kph. Maxwell opened his legs and hit a crisp, powerful flick deep over the leg-side. The ball went 104 metres, bouncing over the roof and out of the stadium in Australia’s capital.
The video of the moment has gone viral. Watch it here:

Only Chris Lynn, with 220 sixes in 130 matches, has more than Maxwell on the list. Seven more players have breached the 100-sixes mark but none of them have more than 140.
Maxwell hit another six on his way to an unbeaten 20-ball 39 that helped the Stars chase down 129.
Glenn Maxwell won’t be a part of IPL 2026
The IPL will see this kind of performance from Maxwell this year. The Aussie announced his decision not to put his name earlier this year without revealing why.
“After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name in the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one made with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me,” Maxwell wrote on Instagram.
“The IPL has helped shape me as a cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever. Thank you for all your support over the years. Hopefully see you soon,” he added.
