The Melodi craze returned as Prime Minister Narendra Modi reunited with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni at the G7 Summit on Tuesday after their viral ‘Melody’ video broke the internet last month. On the occasion, Meloni joked that they were the most famous leaders on Instagram.
PM Modi and Meloni exchanged warm greetings during a family photo at the G7 Summit in the presence of other world leaders, with the Italian PM saying, “Nice to see you again.”
When PM Modi asked her whether she saw Instagram, Meloni quipped, “Yeah, we are the most famous on Instagram.”

The interaction referred to a viral video of PM Modi gifting a packet of Parle’s Melody chocolate to Meloni during his visit to Italy last month, which got 276 million views and 13.2 million likes on Instagram
Sharing the video of the special moment on the social media platform Instagram, Meloni wrote: “Thank you for the gift”. The video featured both Modi and Meloni holding a packet of the popular toffee.
The video instantly revived the popular “Melodi” meme trend, a blend of PM Modi and Meloni’s names that has frequently surfaced online whenever the two leaders interact publicly.
The interaction quickly went viral online, sparking a wave of reactions across X and Instagram. Social media users dubbed it “peak internet diplomacy” and “the ultimate #Melodi crossover”. Within minutes, screenshots, memes and edited clips of the video flooded X and Instagram as many users applauded PM Modi for seemingly acknowledging one of the internet’s most talked-about political trends.
