The Parliament is set for crucial legislative day on Thursday, with the Lok Sabha scheduled to take up the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, while the Rajya Sabha is likely to consider the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, along with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026.According to the List of Business, the Lok Sabha will begin proceedings at 11 am with Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers by Ministers from the Ministries of Housing and Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation. The House will subsequently consider and pass the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, to amend the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act,
1956.
The Rajya Sabha is expected to take up the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing. Earlier on Wednesday, the Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha. The legislation is aimed at making India’s anti-paper leak law more stringent by introducing faster investigations, dedicated courts and harsher penalties for offenders.
The Bill was passed by a voice vote amid opposition sloganeering and a walkout over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the debate.
Lok Sabha witnessed stromy exchange on Wednesday after Rahul Gandhi’s use of the word “idiot” during the speech on the anti-paper leak bill and his subsequent allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah drew sharp objections from the treasury benches.
He accused Shah of authorising the police action against student protesters during the Parliament March, claiming the Home Minister had “ordered the shooting” at students. The remarks triggered uproar in the House, with treasury MPs demanding that Gandhi withdraw the statement and apologise.
