Raghav Juyal has become the talk of the town. In Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, he redefined the hero’s funny best friend character and won immense acclaim from the audiences and the film fraternity alike. Even Suhana Khan recently revealed that her favourite scene from her brother’s show is the one involving Raghav where his Parvaiz fanboys over Emraan Hashmi. But News18 Showsha has learnt that it wasn’t an instant yes from Raghav to be a part of the series.
Speaking exclusively to us, he says, “I was a little sceptical in the beginning about doing The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. In the series, all the characters have a strong backstory and a solid arc. But my character Parvaiz didn’t have any of it. I called Aryan and told him, ‘Mujhe samajh
nahi aa raha hai, kuch lag nahi raha hai.’ He told me to come home. I went to Mannat and we sat down chatting for a long time.”
So, what changed his mind? “He told me that he has a lot of faith in me and in himself. He also said that Parvaiz is his favourite character and assured me that we’ll rock it! He knew that I’ve the ability to improvise on the spot. He told me, ‘Hum dono banaayenge.’ We shook hands and said, let’s do it! And that’s exactly what happened on set. Aryan and I make for a deadly combination. When we would work on a scene together, we elevated it and took it several notches higher,” he says.
Following the chat with Aryan, Raghav recalled why he left television and that further propelled him to give the former’s directorial venture a positive nod. “He let me improvise a lot. Hats off to him! When things aren’t easy, it’s fun. And it’s because of this fun that I left TV. I don’t want the same monotony here. I don’t want to keep playing the same kind of roles. I left money, success and a cushioned life and transitioned to films. I want to take risks and prove my worth,” Raghav remarks.
The Ba***ds Of Bollywood is trending on the internet and the Gyaarah Gyaarah and Street Dancer 3D actor attributes it to Aryan and lauds him for his vision. He also expresses his gratitude to the debutant director for being able to envision him in a comic part after Kill where he essayed a violent and ruthless killer. His Parvaiz in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, on the other hand, is a selfless, funny guy, who’s a devoted fan of Emraan.
“In Kill, I played a very negative character. In The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, I play a loveable character. I’ve been able to showcase two different shades. Yes, I did work hard – by default. Mehnat toh karna hi padhega. Everyone does it. But I’m glad that these projects worked for me. And a big credit goes to Aryan. Directors take ages to find their voice. But right since the first season of his show, Aryan knew what he wanted,” Raghav says.
