Following Mirzapur, Divyenndu has made an image of himself as an angry young man, and this has cost him being offered similar kinds of roles. Divyenndu now wants to break that image and play a lover boy. Speaking to News18 Showsha exclusively, Divyenndu revealed what he really wishes to do now. The actor shared that he wishes to play a sweet and happy guy on screen.
Speaking to us, Divyenndu shared, “I really want to do a romantic comedy, not a cliched romantic comedy but something different, maybe like 50 First Dates. I want to do a very sweet, happy guy, not the kind of character I am often offered, angry, burning from inside, but a very sweet, happy, acha guy.”
Pulkit Samrat, who stars in Glory alongside Divyenndu and was on the panel during
this discussion, butted in and joked, “Tere paas jo script aa rahi hai, woh tu mujhe bhej de aur mere paas jo hai woh main tujhe bhej deta hoon. That’s what we can do (both laugh).”
Speaking about the past image that people have of him, courtesy of his role as Munna Bhaiya in Mirzapur, Divyenndu said, “As an artist, I absolutely distance myself even from the love and appreciation of people because that can be problematic. I don’t want that pressure on my shoulders that it needs to be better than this character or that character. I have to move on from there.”
Divyenndu On Mirzapur: The Film
Divyenndu, while speaking about the much-awaited project, shared, “It’s gonna be big, very big. So much fun shooting that one; it’s going to be full paisa vasool. It is something people are waiting for. Let me not oversell it or reveal things, varna log bohot zyada karte hain, but whatever we have done is glorious.”
About Divyenndu’s New Series ‘Glory’
Set against the rugged backdrop of Haryana’s boxing circuit, Glory follows two brothers bound by tragedy and driven by vengeance. Their return is not just about reclaiming honour, but about confronting the forces that shattered their family. The sport becomes both a battleground and a metaphor, reflecting their internal struggles as they fight to rewrite their narrative. It’s a story of resilience, anger, and the pursuit of justice through physical and emotional endurance.
