New Delhi, Jun 22 (PTI) Police on Monday held a peace committee meeting in northwest Delhi ahead of Muharram to strengthen communal harmony and ensure peaceful observance of the occasion, an official said.
The meeting, convened by the Northwest district police, was chaired by senior officers.
Prominent members of peace committees from different parts of the district participated in the meeting and discussed various issues related to law and order, traffic management, public safety and coordination during Muharram processions.
During the interaction, committee members shared suggestions to facilitate the smooth conduct of religious processions and to address local concerns that may arise during the observance of Muharram.
Police officers appealed
to community representatives and local residents to maintain peace, brotherhood and communal harmony and extend full cooperation to the administration during the period.
“Special attention would be given to crowd management, traffic regulation and coordination with local stakeholders to prevent any inconvenience to the public,” a senior police officer said. PTI BM BM RUK RUK
