Shafali Verma Becomes Fastest Player In The World To Score 3000 Runs In Women's T20Is

Shafali Verma entered the history books on Saturday (September 5) by becoming the fastest player in the world to score 3,000 runs in women’s T20Is. The right-handed top-order batter from Rohtak, Haryana, needed seven runs in India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group A match against Pakistan in Dubai to complete 3,000 runs in WT20Is, and she reached the milestone by scoring seven runs off the first two balls of India’s innings.

Shafali, who is the youngest player to represent India in WT20Is, reached 3,000 runs in just 2,182 balls.

Before Shafali, the record for being the fastest player to score 3,000 runs in WT20Is was held by Australia’s Alyssa Healy. Healy, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, needed 2,321 balls to reach the 3,000-run

mark.

At the age of 22 years and 220 days, Shafali is also the youngest player in the world to score 3,000 runs in WT20Is. She broke Ireland star Gaby Lewis’ record. Lewis was 24 years and 347 days old when she completed 3,000 runs in WT20Is for Ireland.

Shafali, who made her WT20I debut for India in 2019, is the third Indian after Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana to score 3,000 runs in WT20Is for the Women in Blue.

Mandhana holds the record for scoring the most runs for India in WT20Is. In 174 WT20Is so far, she has scored 4,690 runs. She is followed by Harmanpreet Kaur, who has amassed 4,249 runs in 205 WT20Is. Shafali is third on the list with 3,005 runs in 113 innings across 114 matches.
