New Delhi, Aug 10 (PTI) Union Minister for Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy on Monday chaired a meeting to review the proposal for a Flash Charging-based Articulated Electric Bus System, aimed at advancing high-capacity, clean and efficient public transport.
Officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, NITI Aayog, Finance Ministry, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Power Ministry, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Department of Science & Technology, among others, were present in the meeting.
In a post on X, Kumaraswamy said the proposed system features 18-metre bi-articulated electric buses with a capacity of around 130 passengers, supported by rapid flash/opportunity charging during short stops. This can enable continuous operations
while significantly reducing charging downtime.
“We discussed the potential of such innovative solutions to strengthen clean, efficient and future-ready urban mobility in India,” the minister added. PTI RSN HVA
