A woman in Bengaluru posted a video showing a heated encounter with a Rapido auto driver who allegedly threatened her for arriving late to the pickup point. She said the driver demanded money for waiting and warned her by saying, “Dekhta hoon kaise jaate ho (I’ll see how you go)”.
The woman, identified as Shreya, shared that she gave him Rs 20 out of fear since the argument took place right outside her home.
In her post on X, she tagged Rapido and questioned the company’s safety policies. Shreya explained that she was only a couple of minutes late because she was looking for her keys, but the driver started shouting and threatening her as soon as she came out.
She also criticised Rapido for calling customers late at night after rides, saying it puts
passengers in uncomfortable situations. “To hell with this city and its people who can just walk away after threatening you,” she wrote in frustration.

Reactions Pour In After Her Post
After Shreya’s post gained attention, many users on X shared their thoughts. Some expressed support and urged her to contact the police.
A person wrote, “Sorry to hear about this. Add registration number and tag Bangalore Police. These kinds of threats are definitely not acceptable.”
Another said they usually avoid booking autos from home to prevent waiting issues, adding, “I come to the boarding point and then book to save everyone’s time.”
However, a few users questioned the timeline of events, wondering whether the driver really waited as long as he claimed. “Still trying to understand why the auto driver kept saying he waited 10 mins but OP claims it was only 2 mins… Dunno who is right here!!” an individual commented.
Some users argued that such behaviour is becoming more common and urged companies to train drivers properly. A user wrote, “Rapido and other ride apps should require mandatory customer service training before onboarding drivers.” Others shared that they now prefer cabs over autos, calling them a safer option for city travel.

The Bengaluru Police quickly responded to her post, asking her to share her details privately so they could look into the matter.

Soon after, Shreya updated that Rapido had contacted her and investigated the issue.
