Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt recently shared a sweet story about how she and her husband, Chris Pratt, showed love for each other when they first started dating. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the bestselling author revealed that the couple exchanged handwritten cards at the beginning of their romance.
Katherine explained that when Chris had to leave for filming or travel for work, they would write notes to each other. Sometimes they mailed them, and other times they placed them in each other’s bags or left them on the counter. “They have always been really beautiful, and I have, of course, kept all of those,” Katherine said. She added that she has a whole collection of cards from Chris, showing how meaningful these small gestures were
to her. Dating, Marriage, and Growing Family The couple began dating in 2018 and got married in June 2019 in a private ceremony in Montecito, California. Since then, their family has grown with three children. Their first daughter, Lyla Maria, was born in 2020, followed by Eloise Christina in 2022, and their son, Ford Fitzgerald, arrived in 2024. Chris is also a father to 13-year-old Jack from his previous marriage to Anna Faris. Love, Partnership, and Parenthood Katherine also spoke about what she loves most about being married to Chris. She said she is grateful to have a partner who brings humor during difficult times and is a true teammate, especially when it comes to parenting. She described the couple’s partnership as supportive and full of love, helping them navigate life’s ups and downs together. Valentine’s Day Collaboration with Hallmark In addition to sharing her personal story, Katherine has partnered with Hallmark for the company’s Valentine’s Day collection. The collection features romantic cards, gifts like a Date Night Idea Jar, and picture frames. Katherine emphasized that handwritten cards are special, especially in today’s fast-paced, digital world. “It’s amazing when someone takes the time to write something by hand instead of texting or sending a voice note,” she said. Family Traditions and Teaching the Next Generation Katherine’s love for cards comes from her mother, Maria Shriver, who always valued manners and thoughtful notes. Now, as a mother herself, Katherine hopes to teach her children the importance of expressing love through small, personal gestures, just as she learned from her family.
