When Gen V first premiered, one of the biggest standouts was Chance Perdomo. At just 26, the actor left a lasting mark with his powerful performance as Andre Anderson, quickly becoming a fan favourite. Sadly, before season 2 could begin filming, Chance passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in March 2024, leaving both his co-stars and the show’s creators shocked.
As the series gears up for its much-awaited second season, actor Sean Patrick Thomas, who plays Polarity, Andre’s superhero father, shared how the cast and crew dealt with the heartbreaking absence of Chance and how the story adapts to this unexpected change.
‘You Really Feel The Weight Of It’: Sean Patrick Thomas Chance’s sudden passing brought production to a halt. Sean, in a conversation
with Hindustan Times, admits that returning to the set without him was one of the hardest things he has ever done. She said, “It was very difficult. Everything I had done on Gen V up to that point was with Chance. So, to come back and not have him there, you just feel the weight of that, the whole time. I hope that we did him justice and we do him proud.”
Sean added, “I think you fill that hole by diving into what really happened. You really dive into the fact that this performer and his character are lost. You really find a way to mine everything you can out of that in terms of elevating what he meant to all of us, both in real life and in the story.”
Gen V Season 2 Is Whole Other Level
Moving ahead, Sean also had a promise to make about season 2. He noted that the film will still deliver everything fans loved about the first one. In his words, “Season 2 is just a whole other level from season 1. If you like that whole world of nastiness, gore, blood, and crazy sh**, season 2 has a lot of that and then some.”
Speaking of Gen V season 2, it stars Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor and Asa Germann with Sean Patrick Thomas reprising his role as Polarity. The show premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 17.
