Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi is once again making headlines — this time not for a court case or a social media statement, but for a viral party video from Greece that has sparked a flurry of reactions online.
The purported video, shared by the X account Warlock Hindus, shows Modi enjoying himself at ROKA Mykonos Beach Club alongside singer Kanika Kapoor and entrepreneur Lauren Short. The clip quickly gained traction, with users debating everything from Modi’s lifestyle to his legal battles and business legacy.

The caption accompanying the video read: “Lalit Modi enjoying party with Kanika Kapoor and Lauren Short at ROKA Mykonos beach. Bro is living his life better than most of the youths. While half the generation is stuck in traffic and EMI stress, this man is vibing under the Greek sun with champagne and company. Zero FOMO, pure main-character energy.”
The video triggered a wave of reactions on social media.
One user, Niks, wrote, “Check the family of Lalit Modi. He was born into generational wealth — he will never be poor.”
Another user, Shyamal Paul, praised Modi’s contribution to cricket, writing, “Lalit Modi, man responsible for making thousands of cricketers rich and millions making moolah because of IPL. Lalit is a commercially super mega success story.”
Not everyone was impressed. An X user named Ajay commented, “Extradite that Mallya, Nirav Modi and this Lalit Modi to India.”
Modi also shared a video from his getaway on Instagram with the caption, “July was a party.” The montage featured moments from his vacation and social gatherings, along with an on-screen note that read, “Music courtesy: Kanika Kapoor — Coming Soon,” hinting at an upcoming project involving the singer.
Viral Video Comes Days After Major Legal Relief
The viral clip surfaced days after Modi announced that he plans to visit India later this year or early next year following a significant legal victory in the long-running 2009 IPL South Africa foreign exchange case.
The Appellate Tribunal under the SAFEMA framework recently set aside key penalties imposed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Modi and other former BCCI officials. The tribunal held that the foreign remittances linked to the 2009 IPL in South Africa were current account transactions that did not require prior approval from the Reserve Bank of India.
Reacting to the verdict, Modi described it as the culmination of a 16-year legal battle.
“Sixteen years I have fought and whatever I have been saying to the media and to everybody has finally emerged as the truth,” he said in a video message.
Modi, who has been living in London since 2010, also revealed that he hopes to return to India after his daughter gives birth later this year.
“I’m looking forward to coming back to India. Yes, I will come back probably at the end of this year or early next year,” he said.
In a separate post, Modi clarified that while London would remain his permanent residence, his connection with India remains strong.
“India has always been a part of who I am. My home remains in London, and that is where I will continue to live, but my heart has never stopped beating for India,” he wrote.
