Kedarnath is known for its spiritual silence and the echoing sound of temple bells. However, a recent viral video has replaced that peace with the sound of firecrackers.
The footage, which has been making rounds on X, shows a group of men celebrating a friend’s birthday. One man can be heard saying, “Aaj mere dost ka bday hai toh hum celebration kar rahe hain Kedarnath mein” (It’s my friend’s birthday today, so we are celebrating in Kedarnath), while fireworks light up the distance.
The presence of firecrackers in such a high-altitude, ecologically fragile zone is more than just a nuisance—it’s a risk. Following the massive crowds and mismanagement reported during the April 2026 Yatra season, this incident should be the last straw for local management.
Birthday celebrations in Kedarnath?
Why shouldn’t such people be jailed for this? They have absolutely no basic civic sense.

The reaction on X (formerly Twitter) was swift and unforgiving. Users didn’t just criticise the noise but also the vlog culture that turns pilgrimage sites into content backdrops. “Kedarnath ko tourist spot bna diya h 🤡,” wrote one user. Another added, “All these games in front of the Guru of Destruction?” pointing to the backlash these individuals would face from God himself.
Another user tagged local policial officials and asked them to take swift action. “What’s going on with all this @uttarakhandcops? Do they even know how sensitive this zone is? @DmRudraprayag ji.”
Char Dham Yatra Begins
The doors of Kedarnath Temple opened on April 22, marking the start of this year’s Char Dham Yatra. Thousands of devotees gathered on the very first day to seek blessings at the holy site. Reports say nearly 38,000 people visited the temple on day one. But with such a huge crowd arriving at once, managing the rush became difficult, leading to chaos in several areas near the temple.
