New Delhi, Sep 10 (PTI) Customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport have seized 4.96 kg of suspected ganja worth around Rs 1.73 crore from an Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok, officials said on Thursday.
The passenger arrived at Terminal-3 on September 6 from Don Mueang, Bangkok, and was intercepted based on profiling, the statement said.
He was diverted to the Green Channel for X-ray and baggage examination by the customs officials, it said.
According to the statement, during examination of his travelling bags, five polythene pouches containing a green-coloured substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana were found.
The substance weighed 4,969.5 grams and prima facie appeared to be ganja/marijuana when subjected to a diagnostic
test, the statement said.
The passenger was arrested on September 7 under Section 43(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, while the suspected contraband and packaging material were seized under Section 43(A) of the Act, it added. PTI MHS APL APL
