Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh on Saturday (December 6) had Virat Kohli as the guest in his now-usual post-match reels after the team beat South Africa in Vizag to win the three-ODI series 2-1.
India bowled South Africa out for just 270 in the first innings, with Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav picking four wickets apiece. In reply, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma put up a 135-run stand, with the former scoring a century, before Kohli finished things off with a brisk 45-ball 65.
In the hilarious skit, Arshdeep told Kohli that if the target was bigger, he’d have been able to get to a third consecutive century.
“Paaji, run kam rehgaye, century aaj pakki thi waise (Brother, the target wasn’t big enough, otherwise a century seemed certain),”
he said.
Kohli was quick-witted in his reply, saying, “Toss jeet gaye, nahi toh teri bhi pakki thi dew mein, (Be thankful we won the toss or even you have been hit for a century in the dew!).”
The video has rapidly gone viral on social media. Arshdeep is one of the funniest characters in the team and is active across multiple platforms.
Kohli won the Player of the Series award in the series, having scored centuries in the previous two outings, making an extremely strong case for the 2027 World Cup.
“Honestly, just playing the way I have in this series has been the most satisfying thing for me,” he said after the match. “I don’t think I have played at this level for a good 2-3 years now and I feel really free in my mind. Just the whole game is coming together nicely. Very exciting to build on. And something that I have always tried to do as a player, kind of maintain my own standards that I have set for myself and play at the level that I can make an impact for the team. And I know when I can bat like that out there in the middle, then it of course helps the team in a big way because I can bat long, I can bat according to the situation.”
