The shocking suicide of a mother along with her two young sons two days ago has left people across the Telugu states in deep grief and disbelief. New details are emerging each day in connection with the incident. Initial reports suggested that the woman hugged her children and stepped in front of an oncoming train.
Fresh information now indicates that the tragedy took place on her husband’s birthday. The biggest question haunting investigators is why a woman from a financially stable family, with no apparent hardships, chose such an extreme step on that particular day.
On January 31, railway police discovered the bodies of Vijaya Reddy and her two sons, Chetan Reddy and Vishal Reddy, lying on the tracks between Charlapalli and Ghatkesar railway stations.
Preliminary investigations indicated that they died by suicide after coming under a train. However, the timing and the chosen date have become key points of concern for the police.
According to officials, January 28 marked the couple’s wedding anniversary, and just three days later, it was her husband Surender Reddy’s birthday. Investigators are now examining whether emotional distress or a deeper personal struggle led her to take this drastic step with her children on a day that would otherwise have been a celebration for the family.
Police Intensify Probe
To gather further evidence, the police have sent Vijaya Reddy’s mobile phone, laptop, and a suicide note recovered from the scene to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The forensic analysis is expected to reveal her last communications and provide clues about her mental state in the final hours.
Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage along the route from her residence in Uppal to Ghatkesar, which she reportedly travelled by car. Preliminary findings suggest that she reached the railway track area between 11:30 pm and midnight. Investigators are piecing together her movements to understand what led up to the incident.
Last Conversation With Her Brother
Police confirmed that Vijaya Reddy spoke to her younger brother over the phone just a few hours before the suicide. According to him, she sounded completely normal during the call, showing no signs of distress or unusual behaviour. Early inquiries have also revealed no major family disputes, and the couple’s relationship was reportedly stable. Her husband, Surender Reddy, who had recently returned from Dubai, is also expected to be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
In an emotional statement, Surender Reddy reportedly said, “My children could not live without their mother, so she must have taken them with her.” Investigators are considering the possibility that loneliness may have played a role. With her husband working abroad and the children staying in hostels, she may have felt isolated despite having a comfortable life.
The incident has sparked wider conversations about mental health and emotional well-being, especially within families that appear outwardly secure. Police are now awaiting the forensic reports, which are expected to shed light on the true reasons behind this heart-breaking loss.
