Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, is still struggling to secure a release as the movie is facing issues in obtaining a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). While it has been seven months since the makers have been trying to release the movie in theatres, on Saturday, rumours started circulating that the film had been cleared by the CBFC with an A certificate. However, it has now been confirmed that the news is fake and that the board has, in reality, asked for multiple new changes to the Vijay starrer.
A fan account posted a ‘censor certificate’ forJana Nayagan on Saturday, claiming that the movie had received an A certificate. However, the same account later confirmed that the post was fake and that the movie still
awaits certification. Meanwhile, KVN Productions also confirmed to SCREEN that the image circulating is fake and that the CBFC has recently completed its review of the film and sent the makers a list of final revisions.
Speaking to SCREEN, the producer confirmed that once they make all the changes asked for by the board, they will hopefully get the green light to bring Vijay’s much-awaited film to theatres.
The growing buzz is understandable, as the film finally seems to be inching towards release after remaining stalled for nearly seven months. Reports suggest that theatres across Tamil Nadu are gearing up to begin advance bookings, anticipating the necessary clearance. Meanwhile, KVN Productions’ business head, Suprith Mohan, has revealed that the team is aiming to bring the film to cinemas in the last week of July or the first week of August.
