Gurugram, Jul 23 (PTI) The Gurugram Police launched a probe on Thursday after a video clip of an incident of road rage went viral on social media, officials said.
In the video, a speeding car is seen ramming into a motorcycle on M G Road on Thursday morning. The motorcyclist, who fell on the road due to the impact of the collision but did not suffer any serious injury, started beating up the car driver with his helmet, prompting the latter to retaliate.
Both men were seen kicking and punching each other, triggering tension in the area and bringing vehicular traffic to a standstill. In no time, there were long queues of vehicles at the scene. Those heading to work or out for other purposes found themselves stranded midway due to the commotion.
Most of the passersby and other motorists remained mere spectators to the developments unfolding before their eyes. Some kept their vehicle windows rolled up while watching the spectacle, whereas others were seen recording the exchange of blows on their mobile phones.
After a while, some of the passersby intervened and managed to separate the two men through persuasion. The situation subsequently calmed down and the traffic flow was restored.
A senior police officer said they have received the video of the incident and initiated an investigation.
“Efforts are underway to identify both parties using the number plates of the car and the motorcycle. Engaging in such violence and obstructing traffic on a public road are unlawful. Strict legal action will be taken against the accused once they are identified,” the officer added. PTI COR RC
