The teaser for Dhurandhar 2, officially titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, dropped earlier this week and instantly went viral. While the high-octane visuals and Ranveer Singh’s intense avatar grabbed attention, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the background music sounded familiar and international. Many guessed the background score was very similar to one by Grammy Award-winning singer Doja Cat.
It has now been confirmed that the teaser features a portion of Grammy Award-winning artist Doja Cat’s track “AAAHH MEN!” from her latest album Vie. Although Shashwat Sachdev is credited as the film’s music director, the Doja Cat track plays prominently throughout the action-packed teaser.
The makers have also officially acknowledged the song in the description
section of the teaser on YouTube, with copyright credited to Universal Music Publishing Private Limited on behalf of Universal Music Corp. / Isimo Compositions / USI B Music Publishing.
Flipperachi’s Track Fa9la
This global musical collaboration follows the massive success of Bahrain-based rapper Flipperachi’s Arabic hip-hop track “Fa9la” in the first Dhurandhar film. The song, featured during Akshaye Khanna’s iconic entry sequence, became a cultural phenomenon and even earned a Guinness World Records mention for simultaneously topping multiple Arabic Billboard charts.
Everything We Know About Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar follows undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi aka Hamza Ali Mazari’s mission in Karachi, Pakistan, as he takes over the legacy of Rehman Dakait (played by Akshaye Khanna) to become the new Sher-e-Baloch and the undisputed king of Lyari. The film is led by Ranveer Singh and features an ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun.
While the teaser features Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal of the ISI, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam of Sindh Police’s Lyari Task Force, and R Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the IB (a character inspired by Ajit Doval), fans were quick to notice that Akshaye Khanna was missing throughout. But worry not! Though Akshaye does not appear in the teaser, Ranveer Singh confirmed in his social media posts that he will be making a flashback appearance in Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
The film is one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, grossing Rs 1303 crore worldwide. The high-octane spy-action thriller is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, in five languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
