Yograj Singh, often recognised as Yuvraj Singh’s father, has recently been in the limelight due to his outspoken statements. Despite his brief cricket career, consisting of just one Test and six ODI matches
for India, Yograj’s desire for success was channelled through his elder son, Yuvraj, whom he fervently pushed into cricket.
This determination led Yuvraj to become a celebrated international cricketer. However, Yograj’s personal life did not mirror his professional achievements; he faced challenges as a husband and father.
Yograj’s first marriage was to Shabnam Kaur, Yuvraj Singh’s mother. Shabnam, who was a modern woman and Muslim before their marriage, often clashed with Yograj due to his short temper. They had two sons, Yuvraj and Zoravar. Their marital discord led to a divorce when the boys were teenagers, after which they lived with their mother.
Post-divorce, Yograj married Punjabi actress Neena Bundhel in the 1990s. Following his retirement from cricket, he ventured into the film industry where he met Neena. Their marriage led Neena to move to the USA with Yograj, ending her film career to focus on her family.
Neena had been featured in many significant Punjabi films and music albums. Together, they have two children: Victor, who now manages several cricket academies after an unsuccessful acting stint, and Amarjeet Kaur, a racket player.
Amarjeet, known as Amy, initially played tennis but recently represented India in paddle sports at the Asia Pacific Paddle Cup in Malaysia.
Despite the complexities in Yograj’s personal life, Yuvraj Singh maintains a special bond with his step-siblings, Victor and Amarjeet.
